Finishing

Pacing wires

  • Ventricular wires on left
  • Atrial wires on right
  • Exit skin and make a knot, fix with suture to skin to prevent accidental dislodging
  • Be careful to not lance the mammary artery

 

Chest Drains

  • Place into pericardial space
  • Any opened pleural cavities

 

Sternal wiring

  • Three into manubrium
  • Five into sternum  / intercostal space
